Status Management

Track the progress of a work order and manage status transitions.

Work Orders in Dentasync move through a clearly defined lifecycle. Statuses help dental labs and clinics stay aligned, track progress, and ensure timely delivery.

Work Order Statuses

Each Work Order can transition between the following statuses:

  • Pending
    – Created but not started
  • In Progress
    – Work has begun
  • Completed
    – Dental Lab has finished the work
  • Canceled
    – Canceled manually

A Work Order can only be marked as

Completed
after it was set to
In Progress
.

Status Lifecycle

Flow & Transitions

Every work order in Dentasync follows a structured yet flexible progression. Upon creation, the order is automatically set to

Pending
, signaling that the task has been defined but work has not yet started.

When a technician is ready to begin, they initiate the workflow by clicking the

Start Work Order button. This action transitions the status to
In Progress
, marking the start of active processing at the dental lab.

Once all procedures have been finalized, the technician can click

Complete Work Order to mark the case as
Completed
. This status confirms that the work is done and ready for delivery or further processing.

If a mistake was made or work was prematurely completed, the technician can revert the status by selecting

Move Back to In Progress, returning the work order to its previous actionable state.

Canceling a Work Order

If a work order was created in error or the procedure is postponed — it can be canceled. Open the work order and click the

More Options button in the top-right corner. Then, select
Cancel Work Order
option from the dropdown menu.

Dentasync will display a confirmation dialog before applying the cancellation. Once confirmed, the work order status changes to

Canceled
, preserving the order for reference without allowing further action.

Deleting a Work Order

To remove a work order entirely from the system, open the work order and click the

More Options button in the top-right corner. Then, select
Delete Work Order
option from the dropdown menu.

This action triggers a confirmation dialog. Once confirmed, the work order is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Use this option only when the entry was created by mistake or holds no relevance to your records.

Deleting a Work Order is permanent and should be done with caution.

Activity Log

Every status change is recorded in the Activity Log, visible inside the Work Order details view.
